Digital Economy Awards 2023

In 2018, the Sarawak State Government initiated the Sarawak Digital Strategy, a blueprint aimed at fostering the Sarawak Digital Economy. The strategy encompassed a comprehensive action plan designed to integrate digital technology across all sectors of the economy.

Among the Sarawak State Government’s endeavors, the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) stands out as a catalyst for new developments in the region. IDECS is envisioned to catalyze a revolution in Sarawak’s economy and industries, driving socio-economic growth and advancement.

This year’s Sarawak DEA2023 coincides with the 27th World Congress on Innovation & Technology (WCIT) 2023 and the 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2023, marking a significant juncture.

The Sarawak Digital Economy Awards (DEA2023) is organized by the Sarawak State Government through Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) with the support from several federal and state agencies. Submission is free and all are invited to submit.

Who can participate?

DEA2023 is aimed at organizational and individual participation, including the public and private sectors, industries, youth, businesses, entrepreneurs, digital innovators, developers, research centers, universities, civic techs, civil society representatives, NGOs, cooperatives, consortiums (public-private) and social activists, with innovative ideas, research, data analysis, feasibility and impact studies, visionary leadership and solutions for the management and development of Sarawak’s digital transformation.
When is the submission period?

All entries should be submitted starting 28 August 2023 and by 25 September 2023, 23:59:59 (GMT+08).
What are the awards categories?

The award categories are the Digital Technology Transformation Award, Research & Development and Commercialization Award, Entrepreneurship and Startup Award, Digital Inclusivity Award, Digital Government Award, Digital Creative Content Award, Environmental Sustainability Award, and Digital Leadership Award.

What is the Premier's Digital Economy Award?

The eight (8) winners from the award categories will subsequently contend for the prestigious Premier’s Digital Economy Award.
When is the DEA 2023 Award's Presentation Ceremony?

The award's presentation will be held on the 5th October 2023, Pullman Hotel Kuching, Sarawak; coinciding with the 27th World Congress on Innovation & Technology (WCIT) 2023 and the 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2023.

Below are the finalists for each of the Sarawak Digital Economy Awards (DEA) 2023 categories. Each finalist will now move on to the second stage of evaluations which is a pitching session on the 30th September (Saturday) 2023 at the Sarawak Multimedia Authority building, Kuching.

Pitching sessions will begin promptly at 9.00 am. Each 10 minute session will comprise of a 5 minute pitching round followed by a 5 minute Q&A session by the evaluation and assessment panel.

The Evaluation and Assessment secretariat will contact the finalists, individually, to inform them of their time slot.
